First Day of Kindergarten

Lijiah had his first day of Kindergarten today. He's been off and on excited about it all summer. At back-to-school night he was NOT excited for Kindergarten. On his testing day yesterday he was ready to go. I was really hoping for him to maintain that enthusiasm through today...

No such luck. Once he figured out I wasn't staying with him he got upset. He stayed in the corner and cried. We stuck around for a bit, but when they started rounding everyone up to go inside I left. Apparently his teacher, Ms. McCarty, got him out of the corner and inside because I didn't get any calls.

When I picked Lij up from daycare he told me he had fun at Kindergarten. So I'm holding out that the second day will have a better start than the first.

And We're Current...

Looks like I did it in just a few hours...WOW...am I Super Woman or what?

August has been pretty good to us. We've had some cooler weather. We had a quick trip to Bear Lake (again no pictures). Lijiah and Jake spent a week with my mom and dad...Hallelujah!

We had a fun picnic yesterday with 2 of my brothers and their families, and my mom and dad. We went up American Fork Canyon and had some sandwiches and let the kids skinny dip...okay they had on their underwear. It was a fun little day trip.

July

Holy Moly!!! We're almost current!

The 4th of July brought the end of a new tradition. We went to Sugar House park with Brad's family (like last year). But according to local rumor there will not be fireworks at Sugar House park in years to come...stinkin' budget cuts. It was a fun day. We had some tasty sandwiches and played some football. That evening we watched the fireworks. Jake still hides under a blanket the whole time. He's not a fan of the fireworks. I'm not sure why.

The month of July also brought a visit from my other kids. Robert's kids got to come and stay for a week with Grandma Sonnie. (Once again I neglected to get pictures because I am a dorkus.) It was fun to see Anthony, Johnny, Liz, Brianna, and Zack. I wish we could see them more. Lijiah and Jake have such fun playing with their brothers and sisters. We had a little spend-the-night with Zack. Lijiah just thought that was the greatest. He was so sad when Zack had to go home.

Brad does fire restoration. In July his company got a HUGE job in Ogden. They were working 14 hour days, and so they pulled campers up to a campground and stayed in Ogden. We didn't get to see much of him. The job was supposed to be 4 to 6 days...but it was one of those growing jobs. They have now finished...finally...in just under 7 weeks. But I heard a rumor that they've put a bid in on the next 6 bays...it took about 7 weeks to do 1 bay...UG!

April...May...June

We didn't do anything too exciting in April and May. Just business as usual...work, school (for Lij), home.

In June Lijiah had a very important Birthday. He has lived to see the ripe old age of 5.

We had a fabulous vacation in June. But because I am a dork I don't have a single picture of it. We went to Bear Lake with a huge group of friends. We spent 4 awesome days on the sunny beaches. It was really a great, relaxing, revitalizing trip. I could easily have spent twice the time we were there and not been ready to come home. It was WONDERFUL!!! We had waverunners and boats and truck-loads of sunblock. There was great food, and great fun. I can't wait for next summer's trip.

MARCH!!!!!!!!!

Only the best month all year. And for a variety of reasons.

#1) MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!! I hit the big 25 this year. A quarter of a century old. Gosh! I'm practically over the hill. A foot and 1/2 in the grave. I should get my last will and testament in order...

In case your actually counting candles...Jessika's birthday is couple days after mine. So we had 36 candles...25 for me and 11 for her. That's also why we have a Hannah Montana cake and not Cinderella...keep reading you'll understand.

#2) DISNEYLAND!!!!!!!! I coerced my way into a trip to Disneyland with Brad. We left SLC on my birthday. We drove to Mesquite, NV, spent the night, then headed on down to Anaheim. We went with Brad's daughter, Jessika, (Jess had a cheer competition, hence the real reason for the trip).

Jess's mom, step-dad, and brother (Becka, Ben, & Mikey) also came on the journey.

#3) MY HERO!!!!!!!!!!! I love Cinderella. It's my favorite Disney movie. It's been my favorite since I was old enough to like movies. I've always wanted to meet Cinderella. I can now die happy!

I got a crown...cause I'm a princess! I also met Sleeping Beauty and Mulan...but I was most excited to meet Cinderella. I jumped up and down, squealing with delight. Then I was shaking so bad I couldn't speak. You'd think I was meeting someone actually important...like the president of the US or something. But no...I was just meeting my hero!

Moving on...

January and February had a few exciting happenings.

Lijiah and Jake got to spend the first week of February with Grandma Bev and Grandpa Clark. And I got a little peace and quiet. I know the boys always have fun going to the swuseum (Dinosaur Museum) and playing in the yard and helping Grandpa with stuff.

I also started dating a fellow named Brad Mills sometime in January. I'd known him since I moved to Salt Lake. I met him through his sister, who I'm good friends with. We went on a few dates, hung out at his sister's, went to a concert, then I met his parents on Super Bowl Sunday. The rest is history.

It's been a minute

After much harassment from my mother, my sister-in-law, and a few friends I've decided to try to catch up my blog. It might take a day or two since it's been a couple months shy of a year...but I'll try my best.

I suppose December would be a good starting point...

We had a fun friend party in December. A bunch of my old friends from high school came over. We had some yummy dinner (but I don't remember now what it was) and Santa came to visit.

We also road the Polar Express (Heber Creeper) in December. Rhett, Natalie, the boys and I missed the first train that our whole family was on. We were fortunately able to catch a seat on the second train. It's such a fun little ride. Complete with hot chocolate, cookies, a story reading, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Clause.

We also had a good Christmas. I had three days of holiday time. So we spent about 5 days in Vernal. It's always nice to get to visit with Grandpa and Grandma.
